El origen del barrio de El Coto en Gijón son las llamadas “casas baratas”, levantadas por el ayuntamiento a finales de los años veinte del pasado siglo entre las dos edificaciones, históricamente hablando, más importantes de la zona: la cárcel (actual centro de mayores) y el cuartel (actualmente centro municipal). Este último, célebre por el asedio que protagonizó durante la Guerra Civil (conocido como el cuartel de Simancas).
En la actualidad es un barrio moderno, con unas infraestructuras de acuerdo con estos tiempos, tanto en sus servicios sociales como urbanos, donde la vecindad, vive día a día y los más veteranos del lugar cuentan historias de un pasado que todavía perdura en sus memorias, pero también tienen una singular manera de analizar esta crisis económica. Nunca imaginaron que después de estar toda una vida trabajando iban a tener que vivir estos años una situación tan injusta.
Composición realizada a partir de grabaciones de campo registradas durante un paseo con personas mayores del barrio de “El Coto”. Todas las grabaciones fueron realizadas un día de Febrero de 2012.

The origin of the neighborhood of El Coto in Gijón are called "cheap houses", built by the city in the late twenties of the last century between the two buildings, historically speaking, the most important area: the jail (now a older) and HQ (now
Civic Center). The latter, known for the siege that starred during the Civil War (known as the headquarters of Simancas).
Today is a trendy, with infrastructures according to these times, both in social and urban services, where the neighborhood, living day to day and place more veterans tell stories of a past that still lingers in their memories but also have a unique way of analyzing this economic crisis. Never imagined that after being a lifetime working would have to live these years a situation as unfair.
Composition made from field recordings registered during a stroll with seniors in the neighborhood of "El Coto". All recordings were made February 1, 2012.
